The Illest Man In The Hospital
In 2014 I nearly died after contracting sepsis, and so I shared my near-death experience with a group of intensive care doctors and nurses
Back in 2014 I almost died when I contracted an infection that quickly caused sepsis. I almost died. Through the hard work of the doctors in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Warrington Hospital, they managed to keep me alive and ultimately saved my life. I feel very lucky to be alive and I've often wanted to share my experiences in ICU with others.
I was invited to talk at Cheshire and Merseyside Critical Care Network (CMCCN) "Delirium Implementation of Best Practice Study Day" as a patient advocate to tell me story. Hopefully this will help both doctor's and patients to understand the challenges that ICU patients face both before and after ICU care.
